THE A CAPELLA GENRE IN THE CONTEXT OF GROUP SINGING IN KYRGYZ FOLKLORE

This paper examines the a cappella genre within the context of group singing in Kyrgyz folklore. Vocal music without instrumental accompaniment plays a crucial role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan. The research explores traditional forms of the a cappella genre, focusing on their structure, functions, and significance in the cultural practices of the Kyrgyz people. The author analyzes the distinctive characteristics of the genre, including the use
of folk melodies and lyrics, as well as the influence of local customs and rituals on its sound and repertoire. Special attention is given to how group performances and the a cappella genre serve as means of conveying historical memory, fostering social cohesion, and expressing cultural identity. This work includes examples of ethnographic research and testimonies from tradition bearers, providing a deeper understanding of the relevance and significance of the a cappella genre in contemporary Kyrgyz society. In conclusion, the importance of preserving and supporting this musical phenomenon as an integral part of Kyrgyzstan’s cultural heritage is emphasized.
